This month at Sweeney’s Sports and Napa Fishing Club, we’re focused on helping more people get outdoors, learn to fish, and connect with the local fishing community.

Napa Fishing Club Meeting – Friday, May 8

Join us Friday evening for the next Napa Fishing Club gathering.

Starting at 6 PM, members and guests can catch up, hear club updates, and connect with fellow anglers.

At 7 PM, we’ll roll into featured presentations from two experienced local fishermen:

Johnny (@JohnnyCaughtAnotherOne) covering shark and bat ray fishing.
Robbie from The Bend Company sharing largemouth bass tactics.

Whether you’re brand new to fishing or looking to sharpen your skills, these meetings are built to be informative, welcoming, and fun.

Supporting the Next Generation of Anglers

This club is about more than seminars and fishing reports.

Earlier this week, a young brother and sister stopped by Sweeney’s excited to start crappie and bass fishing.

Thanks to support from our members and local community, we were able to help get them outfitted and ready for the water.

Learn to Fish Day – May 30th at Napa Sea Ranch

We’re excited to host our upcoming Learn to Fish Day on May 30 at Napa Sea Ranch.

This beginner-friendly event is designed for families, first-time anglers, and anyone wanting hands-on experience learning the basics of fishing in a relaxed environment.

Event Information

Date: May 30, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Napa Sea Ranch
Cost: Free registration
Capacity: Limited to 40 participants

What Participants Will Learn

Guests will rotate through three instructional stations:

Striper bank fishing rig setup
Baiting techniques and fishing fundamentals
Casting instruction and practice

After completing the stations, participants will head down to the riverbank to fish for striped bass.

Hands-on instruction
Free bait
Help rigging personal equipment
Optional rod and reel rentals available onsite

Additional Notes

Napa Sea Ranch charges a $5 adult access fee
Kids enter free

Registration is free, but spots are limited—sign up early.

Gear evaluations
Negotiations
The final deal… or no deal

It’s a fun way to recycle unused gear while helping support the shop and our mission to invest in kids and the future of fishing.
